Our season three finale of Audibles was a huge hit, as we were joined by former Ole Miss and New Orleans Saints quarterback, John Fourcade.
Amassing over 6,713 career yards at Ole Miss from 1978–1981, he broke Archie Manning’s career record. Before coming to Ole Miss, Fourcade was a standout QB for Archbishop Shaw High School in Marrero, Louisiana, starting for his varsity team at the young age of only 13 years old.
Fourcade is still considered one of the best to every take a snap at Ole Miss, and certainly heralded as one of the toughest signal callers ever in Oxford. He once cut off a cast on his arm with a butterknife to play the next day. He chats with us about his time growing up in Gretna, Louisiana to a police officer father in a large family, his recruitment by legendary Alabama coach Bear Bryant, how he earned a tryout for his hometown New Orleans Saints, and when he knew it was time to hang up not just the cleats, but the coaching whistle.
